BRANDON SHAVER - HEAD COACH

Coach Brandon Shaver is entering his third season as the head coach for the Lake Travis High School men's basketball program, and 8th year as a head coach overall. In the last two years, he's led the Lake Travis team to 51 wins! Coach Shaver also teaches CAVS 401. Prior to coaching at Lake Travis, he served as the head coach at Sulphur Springs, Pine Tree and Central. 

Coach Shaver and his wife, Megan, have three children. His son Jaxon is 19, Kade is 16, and Bryce is 13.

JERRICK MASSENBURGE - JV COACH & VARSITY ASSISTANT COACH

Coach Massenburge is entering his third season as a Lake Travis High School basketball coach. He has coached at several Texas high schools including one year at Pine Tree High School in Longview, Texas and two years at Sulphur Springs High School in Sulphur Springs, Texas. Coach Mass attended Mid America Christian University and was a part of the basketball team from 2014-2017. In 2016, he and his team won the National Championship. In his spare time, Coach Mass enjoys fishing and golf.

TIMOTHY FLANDERS - FRESHMAN COACH & VARSITY ASSISTANT COACH

Timothy Flanders is entering his 3rd year coaching at Lake Travis coaching the Running Backs. He also coaches basketball at Lake Travis High School. Prior to beginning his coaching career, he was in the NFL & CFL for 8 years. From 2014 to 2022 he was with the New Orleans Saints, Cleveland Browns, Omaha Mammoths, BC Lions, Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Calgary Stampeders, and the Ottawa Redblacks.

Timothy played college football at Sam Houston State University. He currently holds over 30 school records and 5 southland conference records and was a two-time finalist for the Walter Payton Award which is equivalent to the FBS Heisman for FCS. He graduated from there in 2013 with a Bachelor of Business in MIS. He also holds a Associate Degree in Cyber Security from Eastern Gateway Community College

He was also a two-sport athlete playing Football and Baseball at Midwest City High School in Midwest City, Oklahoma. He was the Oklahoma Gatorade Player of the Year in 2009.

His fiancée is Cameron Chalmers, who is the Athletic Trainer at the high school. They have three wonderful children Jaden, Gianna, & Messiah.

RUDY ORTIZ - 

FRESHMAN COACH & VARSITY ASSISTANT COACH

Coach Ortiz is entering his second year at Lake Travis High School, bringing 9 years of teaching and coaching experience to the field!  Born and raised in Uvalde, Texas, he developed a passion for sports early in life, which propelled him to pursue collegiate basketball at McMurry University and Southwest Texas Junior College. His athletic journey not only honed his skills on the court but also instilled in him the values of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance—principles he endeavors to impart to his students and athletes. Coach Ortiz and his wife, Christina, have two children with one on the way. His daughter's Braelynn is 6 and the youngest Brinlee is 1.
